Research

What I’m reading as I research material for my blog.

The few titles below just scratch the surface.  I will be adding titles as time allows.

Spinning Straw into Gold:  What Fairy Tales Reveal About the Transformations in a Woman’s Life, Joan Gould, Random House Trade PaperBack, 2006.

Finding Oz: How L. Frank Baum Discovered the Great American Story, Evan I. Schwartz, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2009.

Breaking the Magic Spell: Radical Theories of Folk & Fairy Tales, Jack Zipes, The University Press of Kentucky, 2002.   (I’ve read several books by this author and will be adding the other titles soon.  For now, if you have an interest in fairy tales and folktales as an area of study, Zipes is an excellent resource.)

The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have, Mark Nepo, Conari Press, 2000.  A great collection of daily essays on living your life as it is.

Some of my favorite resources–Joseph Campbell, L. Frank Baum, Gregory Maguire, Tamora Pierce and more to come.
